For what it’s worth, I don’t like Bitch Lab, I don’t read her, I don’t think she’s very bright, and I think the main thing she piggybacked on recently was a comment thread to a post she didn’t author. Nice appropriation, that.

So: Don’t like Bitch Lab? Join the club, and don’t read her. Read the women she rips off instead. They’re better.

Just go ahead and bitch

It was well-intentioned…it was well-intentioned…please, Lord, make it be that this…this deed…was well-intentioned.

But this helps highlight the dreadful plight of the (presumably) invisible AIDS suffering africans - who, not having suffered enough from their illness, have been drenched in oil by the cruel fashion industry!

At least I assume that’s why she’s been made out to have that curiously literal black skin color.

Has no one involved in the transformation of Moss ever actually seen a black woman? Or were black and white photos used as a reference?

or, wait, perhaps a real african woman, who looks like a real african woman, who might know first hand about the issues???

but then, people MIGHT not buy the rag for the free Kate Moss poster.

    ugh

I don’t understand what Kate Moss dyed black is supposed to represent, and how. Can anyone explain it? I can’t be properly offended or titillated unless I know what’s going on, can I?

Maybe Kate and Gwyneth can sponsor a photography exhibition, ‘I Heart Africa’, with all proceeds going to Brangelina’s new charity!

Oh man, just went to look for the Gwyneth parody on Blackademic and found this in the comments (#45):

    Ravenmn Said: @12:22 am

    (cue Rod Serling’s voice)

Imagine, if you will, a sllck, overstuffed modern magazine full of puff pieces about celebrities. Turn the pages, watching semi-clad heroin-chic barely post-pubescent men and women lounging on shore lines, wearing the latest fashions. Flip the pages casually until…suddenly….you enter … the Honesty Zone:

    “I am a colonizer”

A picture of Gwyneth Paltrow stares out at you. Modern armaments are tucked under her arm, blood streams from her hands as she rests her fashionably-clad booth upon a pile of broken African bodies.

“My culture appropriated and destroyed the land of these people.,” she tells us.
“But the scourge of AIDS is a far worse fate than what we had planned! We only wanted to steal their resources and benefit from their cheap labor. Honest! But this AIDS mess is so much worse than the horrors we chose to inflict. How can we enjoy their music and lovely dancing when they are too weak to perform for us? Help me to assuage my guilt. Drop a nickle in the bucket, today. That way your guilt and mine will magically disappear. I’m Gwyneth, and I’m a colonizer!”

As Halle Berry would say at this point: “Having a racist moment, are we???”

Gee…..never mind the fake Kate Moss in Black skin; couldn’t they have found a suitable Brit model to pull this shit off with?? What…Victoria Beckham or any of the other former Spice Girls weren’t available???

Oh, but this is worse than even the old fundie Christian missionaries with their late night commercials…at least they actually featured REAL African children as their props.

    Liberal elitists. Gotta love ‘em.
