I wanted to respond to this, as I did like Brokeback, (I had the same reaction to the assfucking scene as you did, tho’), and there’s a lot of interesting food for thought here. I am trying to get over my kneejerk reaction to Lacan, which is to immediately, upon seeing his name and/or terminology associated with that school, slacken my jaw and distill my thought processes to something like “Um. I like pudding.”
