"For what it’s worth, I don’t like Bitch Lab, I don’t read her, I don’t think she’s very bright, and I think the main thing she piggybacked on recently was a comment thread to a post she didn’t author. Nice appropriation, that. ... Don’t like Bitch Lab? Join the club, and don’t read her. Read the women she rips off instead. They’re better." - Ilyka Damen

This is just excellent stuff. As you may recall, my first bit of toe dipping into these turbelent waters - over at Casa LBO - was as conventional as can be (’set cluck cluck emitters to full Mr. Sulu!).
But the cluck impulse has been squeezed out of me (or, at least, slapped into remission) by powerful counter-arguments from you and others that have made me reevaluate the entire debate’s current terms.
I especially like your analysis of the ancient, ‘real’ vs ‘false’ female sexuality idea that infects discussions of women’s sexual actions, clothing choices and entire style of being whether the speaker is a fire and brimstone S. Baptist or one of my ‘Halo’ playing lezbean buds.
The definition of what’s ‘real’ and what’s ‘unreal’ changes but the core idea of a war between false and true consciousness remains a constant.
There I was, ready to sit back in my rocking chair and wag a finger at these ‘gone wild’ youngsters until you come along, kicking my brain into gear with your cursed insights.
